Field of Lights and other amusements

My crazy Jewish friend, Marilyn, wanted us to go with her to the downtown area of Houston called The Greens to view the light show put on each year by a local artist. Since it was a Friday nite there were other goings on at the park. the Greens use to be a parking lot but the Feds instructed cities to put green areas in there metro areas so thusly the creation of The Greens. On this particular weekend there was also the yearly Car show and some of the cars from the show (or not) were on display at the park. There were also these spinning rides for people, mostly kids, and a DJ playing music while his assistant painted pictures with spray paint. Very creative but also toxic.
First we ate at a Mexican restaurant close to our apartment. It was very authentic, our waitress didn't speak any English. The food was so so but the company was great! From there we headed downtown, cruised for a parking spot and did the tour of The Greens. There was an ice skating rink that was melting fast but all those skating were having a good time. We checked out all the cars on display, all low riders and then strolled along the lites. All these lite bulbs are on sticks with wires running to each of them. They change colors form pink, red, green, yellow, blue and purple. Some of the nites they play music to go along with the lite patterns but not this nite. It was a nice stroll, took lots of pictures and enjoyed Marilyn the best!

Marilyn and me at the Mexican restaurant
Betty and Marilyn also at the restaurant
Car Show!!! Dale would have loved these

Here are the spinning rides free for anyone to try out. Of course the kids loved them. I wish the video would play but it wont for some reason. :(

Same here, I wish the video would play so you could see the lites change color.

The 3 of us.

Just more pictures of Marilyn and Betty at the other park entertainment. This is a water park for kids.

We were definitely in downtown. The skyscrapers surround the park.

And lastly the ice skating rink.
